WECOME TO THE PINK ELEPHANT SPRING BLOG HOP!

Welcome to The Pink Elephant Blog Hop! I hope you have come ready to have fun! If you haven't come from Lori R's Blog you need to go back to The Pink Elephant and start from the beginning. You won't want to miss the fun things they have to share.

When I woke up this morning I was definitely thinking Spring. LOL! I made this card this morning thinking of the blog hop and wanting something bright and cheerful. The embossed frame around the image I scored using the SU scoring tool. Then I layered Summer Sun under white cardstock that I embossed using my oval Nestabilites. I added the ribbon and the adorable little butterflies from a Martha Stewart punch. I also added some small pearls for some added color.

I am also putting up some blog candy. This blog candy will be posted until March 27th. My oldest son will be turning 14 on the 27th so in order for you to be eligible for the blog candy I would like you to post a comment below with a craft idea, card idea or party idea for a 14 year old boy. Sometimes I just can't think of ideas for older boys, girls come easy but boys are more of a struggle, so I would love for all my blogging friends to help me celebrate his birthday special this year. This blog candy will close on the 27th of March and the winner will be posted on March 28th.

Everything in the photos here is included in this blog candy.

2 sheets of each design shown here of Autumn Leaves Foofala DP.
1 Unity Stamp
1 Studio G Thinking Of You Acrylic Stamp Set
1 Studio G Happy Birthday Acrylic Stamp Set
1 Autumn Leaves Butterfly/Sun Acrylic Stamp Set

1 Stickopotomus Vellum Sticker Pack (Shells)
1 Package Paper Flowers
1 Paperbilities Adhesive tags
1 Creative Imaginations Narratives Sticker Pack

gorgeous card !
a great theme for a 14 year old boys card would be anything car related i think.

Wow, Angela! Your card is beautiful! I just love the embossed frames around those gorgeous flowers!

Oh Boys and birthdays I have a 9 year old and I know each year seems to be a little harder especially since he is a winter baby. I would think that maybe going to an event he really enjoys would be a fun idea. We have done that for our son and a few friends instead of the traditional party and it always seems to be fun for them...that is the main thing right? LOL!

Hi Angela - Your card is really pretty. I love that you left it very "simple" but it has much impact. In regards to a 14 yo boy's birthday party why not take him and some of his friends to a go cart place or a miniature golf course. I don't know if you have things like that in your area though. It lets them hang out as a group and keeps them busy.

For a 14 year old boy's card idea, I would definitely do something with Distressed edges, skulls, crossbones and some cool colors like Dark Red, Black and Kraft.

Such a pretty card! My idea for a 14 year olds birthday would be paintball or lasertag.

Gorgeous Card!! I think a great idea for a 14 year old party would be videos games with Pizza I know my son would love that LOL

Adorable card! I know someone who did a hunt with rhyming clues and her teenager loved it. She did it in a mall where each store had a small gift and a clue leading to an ultimate surprise. Any challenging hunt spread over a large area would probably appeal to any teenager or anyone because the suspense is fun.

When my son turned fourteen He had a Texas Hold-em party. I just bought an inexpensive poker game table top and some poker chips. Those boys did not move from that table for 14 hours. They had a blast drinking root beer from bottles and eating chips and subway sandwhiches. I love your blog.

What a zingy card Angela!
Hmmm ... boys parties are hard no matter what age but how about a group of his friends go ten pin bowling and finish with a meal at a junk food place like Pizza Hutt or KFC?

Great card. I love the three embossed ovals. My boy is 5 so a bit off from your guy turning 14. Maybe something sports related?

Thanks for the chance to win your blog candy.

Hello Angela!! I love your card, it's so pretty. The pearls on the butterflies are such a nice touch! My idea is a craft project, maybe to make as a gift to him? I made this http://123-scrap.com/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=14341&cat=500&ppuser=29 for my girls, but you could change it up for a boy, maybe using The Rockstar stack or something. :) Hope he has a great birthday!!

When my son turned 14, I threw a fun party for him. I themed it in colours and about HIM. He liked that. I did up fun and funny pics of him, and hung them up. I did up a cake of him. And I took him and his friends to the bowling alley, then on to see a movie. They had a blast. It's tough at that age. They want to do something... but nothing goofy.

Hi there

I know a lot of boys here like to go Go-Karting - it's a fun day out not sure if you have that with you though, I also love some of the Skater Boy stuff that's on the go at the moment for boys cards..

Loved your Spring card - those embossed ovals with the fantastic flowers are great.

Such a simple but lovely design!!

Great card! I love how simple and clean it is! I have 2 girls and I haven't made boy cards so here's my thought on a party. 1st pizza then off to an exciting place like paint ball, lazer tag, go cart, zip linning (something that gets their blood pumping) then it's ice cream in a chocolate bowl made by you with brownies on the bottom. Let me know if you want to know how to make the bowl (easy peasy)

andyjay said...

Very lovely card! Really like the butterflies. How about a scavenger hunt or treasure hunt?

Bekki B said...

I love the simplistic elegance of this card! My foster son just turned 13 and I had the same problem. I ended up letting him invite 5 of his friends to play lazer tag (which I thought it was only going to be $5 per kid for unlimited time, but they changed it to $5 a game, eek!) He had a great time...then we went to our church gym for cake and ice cream...I think he had just as much fun there and it didn't cost anything. Hope this helps...do you have a church gym you could go to?

I love you little butterflies and the beads are a great touch. I think for your sons birthday you should do a treasure hunt and at the end have some bags with lots of loot.

charlene said...

Love you card it is very calming to look at. Let's see for a 14 yr old boy I would a sleep over with movies, games and lots of food....don't think they would be into to much crafting.

A card with a pocket insert to hold a gift voucher from his favourite store. Sure to be a big hit.

Sonya said...

Hi Angela I love this card it is very beautiful. As for a 14 year olds birthday (my son is 15) what is popular around here is 5 friends to bowling, lasertag, OR gokart riding and also for pizza. That is what the parties around here seem to be. Always alot of fun. Sonya

Hi Angela,

Your card is so pretty, I love butterflies and the deep yellow color used with the pearls, pretty, pretty.

For the Birthday idea, what comes to mind for me is paint ball, I believe they have places where you can take large groups and rent the equipment.

Enjoy! :) Lori m

I said outloud, WOW, when I saw your card. It is beautiful. BTW, my doggie doesn't like it when I talk to myself. hehe

I forgot to tell you about my party idea. Take them to the mountains (if you have them) to a state park and have a old fashion picnic with gunny sack races and pie eating (or ice cream) contest and stuff like that.

I'm thinking Spring, too!!! Great card, Angela :)

It has been a while since I had a child around that age. I think maybe a theme that has to do with skateboard or music will work.

When my son was that age he had a bowling party with all his buddies, pizza and soda , lots of fun and no mess to clean up!!

You have great talent! Thanks for sharing with us!

As for your son, I would say anything where mom and dad aren't around (but where they can't get into any trouble). My idea would be to drop him off at an arcade or some kind of game place (like Dave & Busters) with some money for food and games.

i have 3 boys when they were older we have had : a motorbike party (where friends brought their bikes over and had races, pool party, ten pin bowling, and arcade party, a spooky party (we don't have halloween here in Oz)...hope you guys have a great time with whatever you go for

It's been a while since my son was 14 but he did love go-karting and bowling at that age so perhaps something along those lines will suit your boy too.
Good luck wit whatever you do for him:)

14 year old boys love to eat! Have a 'make your own pizza' party. Have a video game party where there are multiple games going on at one time. They could switch from game to game at a certain signal. They could play on teams. HOpe you have fun! Cathy

How about altering a cover for his phone or MP3 player? You could personalize it with stamps, sewn on labels or buttons. If the cover is leather, you could even use papercraft, just add a protective layer of see through sticky film on top.

I saw a really cool Tetris card on SCS a while back...what about making a card based on his fav video game?

have fun!

terriavidreader (IN-USA) said...

My idea for a party is to have his friends dress up like their favorite comic book character. With all the new movies recently they should be able to make their own costume, my son loved to do this (still does though he's much older and reserves it for Halloween usually!). Thanks for the blog candy offering too!

I break for stamps has some wonderful skate board stamps and grunge stamps that make wonderful cards for the older kids.
Go for something at a skate park with lots of food...
you cannot go wrong. thanks

I hate to say what other people have already said, but as soon as I saw your question, I was going to suggest laser tag or paintball. That is what is popular around here for that age group!

Yes, that is a hard one, maybe a planner to organize a teenager's busy life.

Elizabeth said...

That card is so pretty! An idea for your son's birthday card--how about something sport themed, if he likes sports. Is he into X-games like skateboarding or dirt bikes? Then you could make a card with those themes

Unknown said...

Wow...14...tough age!!! I do know that I wouldn't want to do my teens over. I think you should forget the cleaning up of anything. Teens love living in their clutter. I'd rent an arcade for a couple hours with all the pizza, soda pop and games the group would enjoy. No mess for you to clean up after the party. I'm sure it would be a birthday party he would remember.http://aboutascountryasonecanget.blogspot.com/

What a fabulous Blog Candy!

Oh, boy! What to do on a bithday when you turn to 14 years? You are to old for the play garden en to young for the disco..... Maybe swimming pool, laser gun game or ice skating (if is posible at this time of the year). Or maybe a little disco at home with some boys and girl from school and after the dancing a movie. I don't have boys, just a big girl (16 years) but the best is to let them choose by themselfs, I think.....
Happy birthday to your son, Angela, and have fun!!!

Thank you for this opportunity! What a great blog giveaway. Being that I too am a mom of a DS who will be 14 this year (ack!) I actually have an idea. How about the boys personalize something to wear? Whether it's a plain white tee or white handkerchief that they can draw on with fabric markers and bling out, tie die, or cut, it's an affordable craft. Or perhaps make an 8x10 blank shoe template on paper (like a Converse high top style) and have them customize it with markers, DP scraps, adhesive bling, and laces (ribbon, but we won't call it that - haha!). Hope this helps a little!! Happy Bday to your DS!

Oh more fab candy, a party idea for a 14yr old boy (right up my street visit my website www.artypartyni.co.uk for somemore ideas) anyway may I suggest a t-shirt designer party.
If you buy some white cotton t-shirts, put cardboard between the front and back, use ordinary pencils to draw their sketch or they could use stencils to create their design.
You don't need to invest in the fabric paints if you don't want to you can use ordinary acrylic paints and mix with a fabric adhesive so the paint won't run in the wash.
I have done this party a few times now for older kids, and they really enjoy it, now it might be the fact that they are messing with paints again but as they are creating something a bit older they really get into it.
Give it a go and please let me know how you get on ....... Karen

Happy Birthday to your son!

How about a scavenger hunt (I didn't read through the other comments so I'm not sure if this has been mentioned yet). They will split up into teams & go through your neighborhood collecting things that are on the list & the team that comes back first with all of the items wins a prize.

Have fun!

Yikes...I don't have kids, so coming up with an idea for a 14 year old boy is tough for me. Maybe you can hold a sports-themed party and then have them play ultimate frizbee or tag football.

Thanks for the opportunity to win some candy! Happy b-day to your son (my b-day is March 26!).

Hello, Angela! This is my first visit and I will be adding your blog to my google reader! What wonderful inspiration! I think you are next to me in the WR Unity Blog Hop tomorrow, so I was checking you out! LOL!

Anyway, when my son was 14 he was into sports and dirt bikes or anything else he could drive! If your son is like this, maybe a visit to a local car or bike show would be a good birthday party! Does he have a 'Keep Out!' sign or a door sign for his bedroom door? If he's going to have one, it might just as well be beautiful, right?

Great blog candy! TFS!

Betting casino online via the Internet is different in many ways from betting to a game table in a Best Betting Casino. Most games offered in a real casino can be played online at any time of day or night. Two things you are wanting to crowd around a hot table, and drinks available. There is no constant background noise of the bells
of slot machines or the excited cries of a winner at the craps table.
